Many Apple Watch users, both new and long-time users, are quite confused with the many features that turn off /restrict notifications on the Apple Watch. In this article, I will explain each feature and how to use it for you.
Three modes of off /restrict notifications on the Apple Watch are now: Silent; Do not Disturb and Theater. All can easily be turned on /off in the Control Center. The way to access Control Center is to swipe the bottom edge of the Apple Watch screen from the bottom up.
Silent (Silent): this mode’s icon has bell-shaped and is pink when activated
As its name suggests, when this mode is activated, all notification sounds from the Apple Watch are turned off. However, the Apple Watch still vibrates and the screen remains bright for users to know.
How to use this mode is quite simple. It’s just like we use the Bell /Vibrate button on the iPhone.
Do not Disturb (Do not disturb): icon of the institution This has a crescent moon shape and dark blue when activated
This mode on Apple Watch is essentially a shortcut to activate Do not Disturb mode on iPhone. You turn it on Apple Watch, Do not Disturb on iPhone will be activated.
The default of Do Not Disturb mode only allows Apple Watch and iPhone to display notifications (both ring and vibrate) coming from those who are in Favorite Contact only. Contacts that are not in your favorite Contacts will be reported as busy and on the user’s iPhone will show missed calls.
Note: If a zero belongs to Favorite Contact for the user’s iPhone continuously for a period of less than 3 minutes, the iPhone will understand that it is the status emergency and automatically activate ringing /vibrating to alert the user to hear the call.
This mode is used when we enter workplaces that require high concentration such as meetings, experiments, research … or more simply when going to bed.
Theater (Theater): the icon of this mode has two smiling and orange faces when activated
This mode is exclusively for Apple Watch (on iPhone not available). When you click to activate this mode, the Silent icon also lights up because this mode is Silent mode combined with the Apple Watch screen being turned off automatically and not lit in any situation. If you want the Apple Watch screen to light up, the user must touch the screen or press either of the Digital Crown /Side button.
Using the right mode at the right time, the sound and light from Apple Wactch will never bother us and everyone around us. Do you have any notification restrictions on Apple Watch? Please share it under comment.
